Carolina Boxing Hall of Fame honors USA Warrior Mark Stoessel

Mark Stossel is one a member of the USA Warriors Standing Team – and an accomplished Ice Hockey Referee.  In fact, if you have been playing ice hockey for any length of time in the DC, Virginia and Maryland area, you have probably had Mark as a referee.  But that’s not all.  Mark is not just a Hockey Player, referee, great teammate, and all around good guy.

When Mark served in the Army, he was on the Army boxing team and a Golden Gloves Boxer!  That's right, don't let that smile fool you, he knows how to throw a punch!  Luckily, he has managed to keep his boxing away from the ice!  During his time in the Carolinas, Mark was involved in all aspects of boxing, including fighting, training, and even being the "Cut Man"!!!!

The USA Warriors family has just been informed that our own Mark Stossel has just been given the Great Honor of being inducted to the Carolina's "HALL OF FAME" for all that he has contributed to the sport of Boxing in North and South Carolina!!!! His induction ceremony will be held in Charleston, South Carolina on Friday, April 6th.

Now we all of us can say we play with a legit Hall of Famer!  So if he is refereeing any of your games, don't make the mistake of giving him any lip!!

Please take a moment to reach out to Mark and congratulate him on this fantastic news and great Honor!!!!

USA Warriors and Miracle 4 Melanie on The Links at Norbeck Golf and Country Club

8/8/2023  By Drew Ryan

On August 7th, a beautiful Monday, members of the USA Warriors Standing Ice Hockey team traded their hockey sticks for golf clubs and met on the field of battle at Norbeck Golf and Country Club in Rockville.  Led by outgoing President of the USA Warriors Ice Hockey Program (USWIHP) Gary Rosenfeld, Standing Team Captain Anthony Kenny, Alternate Captain Chris Graff, Izzy Radzik and Mark Stossel came out to enjoy some golf, give out some USA Warriors swag, and support the Miracle 4 Melanie program during their annual golf tournament fundraiser.

Miracle 4 Melanie was started by Erica and Lew Strudler, in memory of Erica’s mom and Lew’s wife.  Melanie Strudler was a strong, influential woman who battled fiercely against pancreatic cancer.  Melanie was an inspiration to all whom she met, and a positive force for change, deeply dedicated to helping veterans.  Melanie devoted much of her free time volunteering at Walter Reed, even while battling her own personal illness.

Miracle 4 Melanie has a core mission “to pay tribute to our valiant service men and women who sustained injuries during Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and Operation New Dawn, by furnishing them with supplementary resources to facilitate their ongoing recovery and enhance their daily morale." They were seeking a local organization to align themselves with as they primarily garner support from the DC region.  About two years ago, Miracle 4 Melanie contacted President of the USWIHP, Gary Rosenfeld, to help fulfill their mission.  For several years, exceptionally generous contributions from Miracle 4 Melanie have been instrumental in funding the USA Warriors annual sled tournament

After a wonderful round of golf at Norbeck, Alternate Captain Chris Graff was asked to speak to the tournament participants, and reflect on the USA Warriors program and what it means to him.  Chris took the time to introduce his fellow players, Captain Anthony Kenny, Izzy Radzik and Mark Stossel, and spoke about the USWIHP, and what the USA Warriors relationship with Miracle 4 Melanie means in terms of mutual respect, positive influence, shared opportunities and joy.  At the end of his comments, Chris, along with Captain Anthony, Izzy and Mark presented Erica with a USWIHP Jersey signed by members of the USA Warriors Standing Team, as a token of our sincere gratitude for the wonderful support relationship that our two organizations enjoy. Erica and Lew Strudler expressed their appreciation and reaffirmed that their organization stands prepared and willing to extend further assistance to the USWIHP – and for that we are profoundly grateful, and we look forward to seeing each other again, be it on the ice or golf course!
